Beef and Broccoli

Beef and Broccoli is a classic Chinese-American stir-fry dish known for its tender beef, vibrant green broccoli, and a savory brown sauce. Here's a recipe to make Beef and Broccoli at home:

**Ingredients**:

**For the Beef Marinade**:

- 1 pound (about 450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

- 1 tablespoon soy sauce

- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce

- 1 teaspoon cornstarch

- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil

- 1/2 teaspoon sugar

**For the Sauce**:

- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce

- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce

- 1 tablespoon brown sugar

- 1/2 cup beef or chicken broth

- 1 teaspoon cornstarch

**For the Stir-Fry**:

- 2 cups fresh broccoli florets

- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced (optional)

- Red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

- Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

**Instructions**:

**1. Marinate the Beef**:

- In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced beef with the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, vegetable oil, and sugar. Mix well and let it marinate for about 15-30 minutes.

**2. Prepare the Sauce**:

- In a separate bowl, mix together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, beef or chicken broth, and cornstarch. Stir until the cornstarch is fully dissolved. Set the sauce aside.

**3. Blanch the Broccoli**:

- Bring a pot of water to a boil and blanch the broccoli florets for about 2 minutes. Drain and rinse them with cold water to stop the cooking process. This will help keep the broccoli vibrant and tender.

**4. Stir-Fry the Beef and Broccoli**:

- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a wok or a large skillet over high heat.

- Add the minced garlic and ginger (if using), and stir-fry for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant.

- Add the marinated beef to the pan and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes, or until it's no longer pink. Remove the beef from the pan and set it aside.

- In the same pan, add the blanched broccoli and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until the broccoli is crisp-tender.

- Return the cooked beef to the pan and pour the sauce over the beef and broccoli.

- Stir well and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli.

**5. Serve**:

- Serve your homemade Beef and Broccoli hot, garnished with sesame seeds if desired.

You can enjoy Beef and Broccoli over steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal. It's a delicious, savory, and satisfying stir-fry dish that you can easily make at home.
