mini idli
Mini idli, as the name suggests, are small-sized idlis typically made using a special mini idli stand. Here's how you can make mini idli:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups idli batter (made from rice and urad dal)
- Oil or ghee, for greasing the idli molds
Instructions:
1. Grease the mini idli molds with oil or ghee to prevent the idlis from sticking.
2. Mix the idli batter well to ensure it's smooth and well combined.
3. Pour the batter into each mold of the mini idli stand, filling them almost to the top.
4. Steam the mini idlis in a steamer for about 8-10 minutes or until they are cooked through. You can check for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center of an idli; if it comes out clean, the idlis are ready.
5. Once cooked, remove the mini idlis from the steamer and let them cool for a minute or two.
6. Gently remove the mini idlis from the molds using a spoon or fork and transfer them to a serving plate.
7. Serve the mini idlis hot with your choice of chutney, sambar, or a side of your preference.
