Paratha

Paratha is a popular Indian flatbread that is flaky, layered, and often stuffed with various fillings. Here's a simple recipe to make plain paratha:

Ingredients:
- 2 cups whole wheat flour (atta)
- Water, as needed
- Salt, to taste
- Ghee or oil, for cooking

Instructions:
1. In a mixing bowl, add the whole wheat flour and salt. Gradually add water and knead to form a smooth and soft dough. The dough should be soft and pliable but not sticky. Cover the dough and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.

2. After resting, divide the dough into equal-sized balls, slightly smaller than a lemon. Roll each ball between your palms to make them smooth.

3. Take one dough ball and dust it with some dry flour. Roll it out into a small circle, about 5-6 inches in diameter.

4. Apply a little ghee or oil on the rolled-out circle and fold it into half to form a semi-circle.

5. Apply ghee or oil on the semi-circle and fold it again to form a triangle.

6. Dust the triangle with some dry flour and roll it out into a larger triangle, about 8-10 inches in diameter. Be gentle while rolling to prevent the filling from coming out.

7. Heat a tawa or griddle over medium heat. Once hot, place the rolled-out paratha on the tawa.

8. Cook the paratha for about 1-2 minutes on one side until you see bubbles forming.

9. Flip the paratha using a spatula and cook on the other side for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown spots appear.

10. Apply ghee or oil on both sides of the paratha and cook until crispy and golden brown, pressing lightly with a spatula.

11. Once cooked, remove the paratha from the tawa and place it on a plate. Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls to make more parathas.

12. Serve the hot parathas with your favorite curry, dal, yogurt, or pickle.

Enjoy the delicious and flaky parathas as a perfect accompaniment to any meal! You can also stuff the parathas with fillings like spiced potatoes (aloo paratha), paneer (paneer paratha), or cauliflower (gobi paratha) for added flavor.
