sweet dosa
Sweet dosa, also known as sweet appam or godhuma dosa, is a delightful South Indian sweet dish. Here's a simple recipe to make it:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup wheat flour (godhuma pindi)
- 1/2 cup jaggery (grated or powdered)
- 1 ripe banana, mashed
- 2-3 cardamom pods, powdered
- A pinch of salt
- Water, as needed
- Ghee or oil for cooking
Instructions:
1. In a mixing bowl, combine the wheat flour, grated jaggery, mashed banana, powdered cardamom, and a pinch of salt.
2. Gradually add water to the dry ingredients and mix well to form a smooth batter. The consistency should be similar to dosa batter, neither too thick nor too thin.
3. Let the batter rest for about 15-20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
4. After resting, give the batter a quick stir. If the batter has thickened during resting, you can add a little more water to adjust the consistency.
5. Heat a non-stick dosa tawa (griddle) over medium heat. Make sure the tawa is properly heated before making the dosas.
6. Once the tawa is hot, pour a ladleful of sweet dosa batter onto the center of the tawa.
7. Using a circular motion, spread the batter evenly to form a small dosa. Sweet dosa tends to be softer than traditional dosa, so don't worry if it doesn't spread as thinly.
8. Drizzle some ghee or oil around the edges and on the surface of the dosa. Cook the dosa on medium heat until the bottom turns golden brown and crispy.
9. Carefully flip the dosa using a spatula and cook the other side until it turns golden brown and crispy as well.
10. Once both sides are cooked to perfection, remove the sweet dosa from the tawa and serve hot.
