crispy banana bonda

Crispy Banana Bonda, also known as Pazham Pori in South India, is a delicious snack made with ripe bananas dipped in a spiced batter and deep-fried until golden and crispy. Here's a recipe to make Crispy Banana Bonda:

Ingredients:
- 2 ripe bananas
- 1 cup chickpea flour (besan)
- 2 tablespoons rice flour
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
- Water, as needed
- Oil for deep frying

Instructions:
1. Peel the ripe bananas and cut them into halves lengthwise, then cut each half into smaller pieces.

2. In a mixing bowl, combine chickpea flour, rice flour, turmeric powder, baking powder, salt, cumin seeds, and chili powder. Mix well to combine.

3. Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, stirring continuously, until you get a smooth and thick batter. The consistency should be similar to pancake batter.

4. Heat oil in a deep frying pan or kadai over medium heat.

5. Once the oil is hot, dip the banana pieces into the batter, coating them evenly.

6. Carefully drop the batter-coated banana pieces into the hot oil, a few at a time, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.

7. Fry the banana bonda in batches, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 2-3 minutes.

8. Once the banana bonda are golden and crispy, remove them from the oil using a slotted spoon and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

9. Repeat the process with the remaining banana pieces and batter.

10. Serve the Crispy Banana Bonda hot as a snack or tea-time treat. Enjoy them on their own or with a cup of hot chai or coffee.

These Crispy Banana Bonda are best enjoyed fresh and hot, but you can also store any leftovers in an airtight container and reheat them in the oven for a few minutes before serving.
