Crunchy tacos are a classic Mexican dish made with crispy taco shells filled with seasoned meat, vegetables, cheese, and other toppings. Here's a recipe to make crunchy tacos at home:
### Ingredients:
- **Crispy taco shells:** 8-10 (store-bought or homemade)
- **Meat filling:**
- Ground beef or ground turkey: 1 pound
- Onion: 1 small, chopped
- Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
- Taco seasoning: 2 tablespoons (store-bought or homemade)
- **Toppings:**
- Shredded lettuce
- Diced tomatoes
- Shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a blend)
- Sour cream
- Guacamole or sliced avocado
- Chopped cilantro
- Sliced jalapeños (optional)
- Salsa or hot sauce
### Instructions:
1. **Prepare the meat filling:**
- In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground meat until browned and cooked through, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until the onion is soft and translucent.
- Stir in the taco seasoning and cook for another 1-2 minutes, until the spices are fragrant. Add a splash of water if necessary to help the seasoning coat the meat.
- Remove the skillet from heat and set aside.
2. **Warm the taco shells:**
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Arrange the taco shells on a baking sheet and warm them in the oven for about 5 minutes, or follow the package instructions.

- Once the taco shells are warm, begin assembling the tacos.
- Fill each taco shell with a spoonful of the seasoned meat filling.
- Top the meat with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, guacamole or sliced avocado, and other desired toppings such as chopped cilantro, sliced jalapeños, and salsa.
