  • 1 cup (240 ml) unsweetened apple cider or apple juice
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lemon juice
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves (optional)
  • 1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise (or 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Apples: Wash and core the apples. You can peel them if desired, but leaving the skins on adds extra pectin (a natural thickening agent) and a beautiful rustic look. Cut the apples into bite-sized pieces.
