Jalapeno quail appetizers
Jalapeno quail appetizers are a delicious and impressive take on the classic bacon-wrapped popper. They're perfect for a party or as a fun and flavorful weeknight meal.
There are a few different ways to make jalapeno quail appetizers, but they all involve stuffing jalapeno peppers with quail meat and then wrapping them in bacon. The quail can be cooked whole or spatchcocked (butterflied), and the jalapenos can be seeded or left whole, depending on your preference for heat.
Here's a basic recipe for jalapeno quail appetizers:
Ingredients:
- 4 jalapeno peppers, halved lengthwise and seeded
- 4 boneless quail breasts
- 4 slices of bacon
- 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
- In a small bowl, combine cream cheese, chives, salt, and pepper.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture over the inside of each jalapeno pepper half.
- Place a quail breast on top of the cream cheese mixture in each jalapeno pepper half.
- Wrap each jalapeno pepper half with a slice of bacon, securing with a toothpick.
- Place the jalapeno pepper halves seam-side down on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crisp and the quail is cooked through.
- Serve immediately.
Tips:
- If you don't have boneless quail breasts, you can use bone-in quail breasts and simply remove the bones before stuffing the jalapenos.
- If you like your jalapeno quail appetizers to be extra spicy, you can leave the seeds in the jalapenos.
- You can also add other ingredients to the cream cheese mixture, such as shredded cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes, or chopped green onions.
Enjoy!
