tiramisu recipe
Tiramisu is a delightful Italian dessert known for its layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and creamy mascarpone filling. Here's a classic recipe:
Ingredients:
- 6 egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese, softened
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 1/4 cup coffee liqueur (like KahlĂșa), optional
- 24-30 ladyfinger cookies
- Cocoa powder for dusting
Instructions:
1. In a large bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until the mixture is pale and slightly thickened.
2. Add the softened mascarpone cheese to the egg yolk mixture and beat until smooth.
3. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.
4. In a shallow dish, combine the brewed coffee and coffee liqueur (if using).
5. Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, making sure not to soak them too long. Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers at the bottom of a serving dish.
6. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers layer.
7. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
8. Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or preferably overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
9. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder using a fine sieve.
