Gaelic coffee,

Gaelic coffee, also sometimes called Irish coffee (though technically that's a specific drink with Irish whiskey), is a warm and boozy coffee drink that's perfect for a cold day or after a long meal. It's made with hot coffee, whiskey, sugar, and a thick layer of cream on top.

Here's what you'll need to make a Gaelic coffee:

  • Ingredients:
    • 4 ounces brewed coffee
    • 1-2 teaspoons brown sugar (or simple syrup)
    • 1.5 ounces Scotch whisky
    • Heavy cream, for floating
  • Instructions:
    1. Preheat a heat-resistant glass mug or Irish coffee glass by filling it with hot water and letting it sit for a minute or two. Discard the water.
    2. Add the brown sugar (or simple syrup) to the preheated mug.
    3. Pour in the Scotch whisky and stir it gently to dissolve the sugar.
    4. Carefully pour the hot coffee into the mug, making sure not to disturb the whisky layer.
    5. Top the coffee with a layer of heavy cream. You can use a spoon to gently pour the cream over the back of another spoon to create a clean separation between the coffee and cream.
    6. Enjoy your Gaelic coffee!
